At Little Smiles Pediatric Dental, we believe that healthy habits start early. That’s why we recommend bringing your child to our Whitehall pediatric dental office by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth erupting. Baby Teeth Matter
Even though baby teeth eventually fall out, they play a critical role in your child’s development. They help your child chew and speak properly, hold space for adult teeth, and guide their proper alignment. Taking care of these tiny teeth now helps prevent more serious dental issues in the future.
We encourage parents to start brushing their child’s teeth as soon as the first tooth appears.
- Use a soft-bristled brush and a smear of fluoride toothpaste (the size of a grain of rice) until your child turns three.
- Once your child is able to spit, you can use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste.
